Hi guys,

Greetings from Finland! I'm one of the lucky two (2!) Finns that get to be the first to use the CDD. I've enjoyed reading your comments (translating them with Altavista's Babelfish) but for some personal input, English is the only option.. I hope it's OK here?

I've got numerous tech questions, some broad and many detailed. Let's start with the very basics:

- OS language. How can it be translated?
- ATA connection. What is needed, what are the possibilities etc.?
- Subwoofer output. Really no x-over etc. in the 2/3-way mode? For me (the marketing guy) it would be extremely important to be able to say "4-way" ;-)
- Is this the right place for reporting bugs, even small ones? Or are there already enough beta-users?

Regards,

Eero

Hi Eero,

welcome to CDD forum. Glad to hear about CDD in Finland! Feel free to report any bugs here, and English is OK.

About Your questions:

- OS language: meaningless phrase for me :) I couldn't remember where are these words from. Please give some more context and I'll try to explain.

- ATA connection: this work is in progress. Virtually that will be a separate device connecting ATA 2"5 HDD to CDD via digital bus (our proprietary "MegaBUS"). Also there will be USB 2.0 interface for uploading music from PC. This device will be like common USB-ATA boxes but with additional interface to CDD and car adaptation (power, vibration, etc).

- Subwoofer output: it is sum of channel 1 and channel 2, filtered with LPF 60 Hz 12dB/octave. So it isn't true independent output. You can use it in 3-way system if channels 1,2 are assigned to bass (crossower Low-Pass Filter). If You need really independent crossover output (with adjustable gain, cutoff frequency, delay, etc), You are to use one of normal channel (1..6) for it and only 2-way crossover can be realized in this case.

By OS I meant operating system, the menus etc. The CDD would definitely be the first car audio product that has menus in Finnish :) There doesn't seem to be anything translateable if you just open the software file with Notepad, so I guess you have use a special program?

At this moment three translations of User Interface are available: English, German and Russian. And now there is no way to add transltions by user because text compiled in executable modules. But this is not big problem - in future there'll be a user PC software for adding new translations. Our team have not enogh resources to do translation to other languages in nearest future, so help from CDD users will be very much appreciated.

I'd be more than happy to do the Finnish translation. If, for any reason you'd like to contact me by email, it's eero.augustin@augustinimports.fi
